Introducing: Stacks

Just below the radar, the signal of Miami’s next prize winning MC, “Stacks” grows larger by the second. What… you haven’t heard of Stacks? That’s ok… that’s what an introduction is for.

This 20-year-old Miami native will tell you that he is very fortunate to be in the position that he’s in. You have to understand… with todays most sought after producer, Scott Storch executive producing his debut album, “CraZee and ConfuZed”, the masses will expect nothing less than a stellar project from Stacks. Let’s not even get into the multi-platinum guest appearances that have kept Stacks on his toes with every verse that he has put down during the recording process. But you can’t tell Stacks that he isn’t prepared… this album is 6 years in the making. Listen up…

Deshair: If you don’t mind, can you give our readers a brief introduction.
Stacks: No problem. My name is Stacks. I’m representing Miami, Florida. I’m on Sobe Entertainment. I started out rhyming at the age of 14, back in Washington, DC. I rocked at a lot of local places there. Then around when I was 18, I moved down to Miami. First I put out some mixtapes and freestyles. And through all of my struggles and grinding, I found Sobe Entertainment.

Deshair: What is the name of your debut album, and when will it be released?
Stacks: The name of my debut album is “CraZee and ConfuZed”. It will be released in Spring of 2006.

Deshair: What do you feel is the first impression that you give off when you step on stage?
Stacks: My first impression is just a difference. I think that because of the way that I look, people tend to test me a lot. At an early age, I had to develop my freestyling skills. The first look, I would think would be a look of shock. People have to wait to figure me out before they have a chance to place an expectation upon me.

Deshair: You literally have an all-star roster of producers and multi-platinum selling artists on your debut album. How did you hit jackpot in such a way?
Stacks: Luckily for me, everybody flocks to Miami. Miami has become a melting pot for so many artists and producers. When I met Scott Storch a while back, I was just going in to record a few songs with him. By the end of those sessions, he told me that he really liked the finished product, so he offered to executive produce my album. To me, he is the best producer in the world. He literally took my album to another level, which I didn’t even think was possible. So I owe that man, pretty much.

Deshair: How would you define your style of lyricism?
Stacks: I would say that it is, “Witty, crafty wordplay.” With my freestlying, I love to catch people off guard. It also really depends on what state of mind that I’m in; girl issues, political issues, economical issues… whatever hits my mind at the time is what I’m going to speak on.

Deshair: I’m going to name 3 songs from your debut album. I want for you to tell me about your experience towards each song, and what was it like recording it in the studio.
1. Git it, Git it – When my man Scott originally played that beat, I knew that I had to come with something unbelievable for that one. When you feature a lyrical veteran like Twista on one of your songs, just to match up with his overall style is a difficult task. So I made sure that this would be the song that places me on the map. I made sure that through my lyrics that people got more familiar with who I am and what I’m about.
2. M.I.A. – This song was a beautiful experience. I worked with Diddy on this track. Diddy lives down here, and he frequents the clubs on a regular basis. I was actually the one who approached him since we had mutual friends. So we hooked up in the studio and knocked M.I.A. out. I wanted this song to be the first single just to let people know where I’m from.
3. Sittin in My Six Four – I spent a couple of years in L.A. while I was in college. During that time, I’ve gained a deeper appreciation for West Coast Rap. Then when the Game came out, I followed everything that was going on with him. Once again, I knew someone who knew the Game, so we made that connection. We flew the Game to Miami and made it happen. I spent a lot of time in L.A. just soaking in the culture; the Impala’s, the Six Four’s, and stuff like that. This song was my way of showing love to that experience

Deshair: What was the most recent lesson that you’ve learned about the Music Industry?
Stacks: It’s just really a grind, man. Everybody has their good days and their bad days. You just have to put forward the 110% in everything that you do from your performances to your recordings. I just try to step up my game with everything that I do. People are starvin’ out there, and I’m in a fortunate position right now to do something long lasting in Hip Hop.

Deshair: Tell us about some of your goals other than music.
Stacks: I love music. But when I was in college at USC School of Film and Cinematography, I studied Film. I hope to in the future direct some music videos and then step it up to movies. I want to be that next Rap Mogul like a Diddy or Jay-Z.

Deshair: Is there any specific reason why the letter “Z” stands out in the title of your debut album?
Stacks: Nah, there’s no specific reason why. It just looks good within the spelling of the title. I just want for people to know that this album was put together out of my love for all that is Hip Hop. You can look at my collaborations and see that I got Twista from the Midwest, the Game from the West Coast, Paul Wall from Texas, Diddy from New York, & Miami is of course represented.

Deshair: What do you hope to accomplish with the release of, “CraZee and ConfuZed”.
Stacks: Miami is in a great position with people like Trick Daddy, Pitbull, Trina, Uncle Luke, etc. But even with all of our talents, I still don’t feel that we have peaked yet. Miami is one of the most loved cities on a national level. But musically, I feel that it can be so much more. And that’s what I hope to accomplish with this release… bringing more to an already beautiful situation.

Deshair: How can any of our interested readers learn more about you?
Stacks: Definitely, they can go to the label site, www.SobeEntertainment.com or they can go to my site, www.StacksMusic.com. We’re setting up a college tour and a few other things, so just be on the look out for Stacks… Sobe’s coming

Deshair: Any last thoughts that you’d like to leave us on…
Stacks: Just be on the lookout for us. 2006 is bound to be a great year for us. We have a powerful roster, extremely talented producers, and we’re ready to corner the market, man. Sobe Entertainment, man… Stacks, man…
